This censer, when filled with charcoal made from the redleaf trees and burning their scarlet leaves, emits a smoke that is lethally poisonous to undead creatures. 1 pound of charcoal and leaves can fuel the Scarlet Thurible for up to 1 minute (10 rounds). Woodsmoke from these trees does not produce this effect normally, it is a special function of this specific thurible. The thurible occupies one hand when in use and must be swung back and forth in order to proliferate the cloud of smoke.

For 2 AP a character can light the thurible and for 1 AP they can swing it. Each turn that it is swung it creates a 15ft area of smoke around the [[carrier]]. When an undead creature starts its turn within this area, its DR is reduced by −5, and it suffers 1d6 poison damage (even if it is normally immune to poison damage). Damage inflicted by this cloud is not reduced by any DR the creature may still have. The DR reduction effect continues until the start of their next turn, even if they leave the area of the smoke. The smoke produced by this thurible is unusually thin and wispy, and does not obstruct or obscure vision.
