The Leatherback is a large reptile with a body like that of an ox’s and a head much like a horned lizard with a prominent horn jutting from the end of its snout. Its scales are stone-hard, and it has a wide cavity between its shoulders where it stores water that it has drunk for weeks on end. For their tough but generally docile nature and their capacity to survive long stretches of time without water, Leatherbacks are invaluable pack animals for desert merchants.
