Triceratops
With a wide, shield-shaped head and three horns that it uses to effectively defend itself, a triceratops is a tough, quadrupedal herbivore and dangerous enough that predators take serious pause before attempting to attack one. Most triceratopses, unlike other herbivorous animals, are solitary for much of their lives, forming family units during mating season and separating once their young are large enough to protect themselves. Triceratopses are often viewed symbolically as wise, mystical animals, and if a group of hunters see one it is usually accepted as an omen of change soon to come. Sighting a triceratops is not an everyday occurrence as they are less common than other dinosaurs, lending to the creature’s mystique. Although many dinosaur wranglers have attempted to tame triceratopses, they have proven untrainable and attempts to domesticate them have thus far failed.
