Sickening statues appear to be stone statues of humanoids carved into positions and expressions of complete agony. These are, in truth, the unfortunate souls infected with a wasting disease that covers the skin in hardened stone-like scales. Trapped in a suspended state, these unfortunate souls sometimes linger in an immobile state for years until the disease senses new victims. When this happens, the disease causes its infected host to spring forth, as though a statue has come to life to claim a new victim.
