Kaijan are incredibly large and powerful, and most civilizations will hide underground or will migrate when they are threatened by such a monstrous creature. However, despite their vast power, some kaijan have been killed. As large as kaijan are, they possess a vast amount of Essence, and sometimes this Essence binds to a kaijan’s corpse, turning it into a Phossylaur. These enormous creatures are undead psionic anomalies. Phossylaurs do not need to eat physical food as living kaijans do; instead, they feast on Essence, turning their victims into gray husks of their former selves.
