Getar is an island nation with a strange geological makeup. The nation is three concentric ring-shaped islands: the smallest island, directly in the middle, is entirely industrialized and is home of their capital. The middle island forms a ring around the inner island, and likewise, the outer island forms a ring around the other two. Although there are natural variations in the islands’ coastal shapes, the overall appearance of the three islands is that of two rings, one larger and one smaller, both enveloping a dot.

Most Getarese feel that this geological makeup would have been impossible if not for the involvement of some kind of remarkably advanced gods and they worship the technology-driven deities known as the Avadri.

Getar used to be a powerful nation in the Inner Sea, but after Roshallan defeated Chee and commandeered its navy, they swept across the Inner Sea and smashed Getar’s military. They have let Getar maintain its theocratic way of governance in public, but in private, the theocrats are controlled by Roshallani militants.

Academic.

Most Getarese receive a mixed education. Cultivation of intelligence is highly valued in Getarese culture, so students usually learn a mixture of language skills, math, and history, but the focus is usually placed on science. Having discovered two strange minerals - Avadrium and Arcanium - in their shallow lakes, the Getarese enthusiastically pursue experimentation with these materials.

Political and Religious.

Getar is a theocratic society. From the capital city of Pount, the Theocrats purportedly receive cryptic visions from the Avadri beyond and translate these mysteries into actionable policy. Citizens of Getar are expected to comply with these proclamations as both political and religious truth. In fact, now that Getar is controlled by Roshallan, the Theocrats simply do what Roshallani commanders order them to do.

Mercantile and Trade.

Under the Roshallani Empire, Getar has become a valuable mining nation for the greater empire. They export their Avadrium and Arcanium to Roshallan’s mainland in exchange for undervalued compensation and the ongoing right to live on their own land.

Militant and Underworld.

Weakened rebel forces engage in guerilla warfare against Roshallan, but to little avail. A network of Getarese thieves and saboteurs coordinate with the rebels of Chee in an effort to bring down the Roshallani.

Social.

Before Roshallan’s occupation, most Getarese saw one another through a vague caste lens. The citizens of the outermost ring were considered the peasantry, and those on the innermost ring the nobles. Now that Roshallan has conquered Geter, most Getarese citizens see one another as victimized siblings and try to look out for their neighbors when able.

Pount

The innermost island of Getar, its capital city, is home to the great temple of the Theocracy. This temple functions as both a religious center and a legislative hall. Pount also has large industrial facilities where Avadrium and Arcanium are systematically processed and purified before being exported by the Roshallani navy. Well-equipped research facilities on the island are also staffed by renowned alchemists looking for new applications of these materials.

Quest Ideas

• The Getarese want to recruit the heroes to help them covertly battle the Roshallani. Will the heroes join the side of the beleaguered rebels?

• The Theocracy and/or leading scholars from the Getarese want the heroes to conduct some experiments with an Avadrium-Arcanium alloy. The resulting reaction teleports the heroes into the Celestial Sea, with no obvious way back...
