Lavaels are celestial beings that seek to keep peace and [[order]] throughout the multiverse. They can be summoned by a long and complicated ritual, and are commonly trusted as neutral arbiters that will enforce binding contracts. Lavaels loathe dubious or deceitful pacts, and so many wealthy and upstanding merchants, [[clergy]], aristocrats, and the like seek their services to enforce their dealings, while the more unscrupulous elite try to avoid Lavaels.
