Spell Description
You cannot use this ritual on yourself. You sedate the target humanoid creature, numbing it to the pain of the ritual. By surgically cutting into the target’s back and snapping its ribs off from its spine, you can fan its ribs and skin out to create unholy wings.

For the duration, the creature gains the following modifications:

  • Fly speed equal to double its walking speed
  • +4 to Intimidating and Menacing, which can exceed the +20 cap
  • -8 to Gossiping and Persuading
  • Gain Frightful Visage ability:
    • Frightful Visage. For 4 AP make a CHA attack against the WILL of each hostile creature within a 20 ft radius of you. On a hit, the creature is Frightened until the start of your next turn. On a crit, the creature is Broken until the start of your next turn.

When the duration ends, the target creature’s back magically stitches itself back together, but it is still injured. The creature suffers the following penalties:

  • Bleeding 1d4 until the creature Recoups
  • Broken Rib lingering injury until the creature Takes a Rest
Dark Power
Dark Power: When you cast this ritual, make a magic attribute check against a DC of 18. On a fail, the creature’s back does not heal correctly. It still has protruding, unnaturally long ribs with fleshy skin flaps. This has no mechanical benefit, but still imposes the -8 to Gossiping and Persuading. The Broken Rib effect lasts until it would naturally heal. Once it heals, the other effects end.
