[back to Kings of Tyranny NPCs]

Inscrutable, as the grandson of Gilgalon, Mangondulon fills the immense shoes of his ancestry with a majestic presence, one laden with a sense of rulership and raw, unchallenged power. Charisma exudes from Mongodulon’s person. He draws the attention of a room merely by entering, and is known to dominate conversations even should he have little, or even nothing, to add. He has spent most of his life preparing for his mantle as godking, and is widely read, experienced, and trained, having himself risen to fame within the Naplaqtum among a number of gladiators and warriors.

Read Aloud: An iron slab of a man, Godking Mangondulon stands almost seven feet tall, laden with muscle, his body thick, arms like trunks with a constitution of stone. Dark, black hair falls to his shoulders, luscious and well groomed, with a kept, sharp beard, trimmed to short, perfective length. Half a robe of red and orange dyes hangs off a single shoulder, with his chest exposed, a tailed cape about his waist swaying with the swagger of a confident step. Behind a warrior’s physique lies a piercing gaze, one alight with a harsh, calculating intellect.

Personality

As a monarch, Mangondulon puts on a great show of strength, issuing proclamations with aggressive passion, and sporting grand attire riddled with rare dyes, gems, and golden, sun-borne heraldry as an avatar of guiding light and life. He often shows off his own immense physical prowess, accustomed to displaying his muscled chest and arms for the people of Palask to intimidate and awe. On the surface, he is a demigod of utmost authority, his countenance stiff, stern, and confident, showing zero hesitation in his decisions and able to accurately assess a situation and act upon it with wisdom and expertise.

Inwardly, though, Mangondulon possesses a soft spot for those beneath him in station. He will often undermine his own rulings, if harsh for the benefit of the city or to keep his power, by sending subtle agents (usually his Arsurs) to soften the blows, whether by gifts or by providing “unforseen” loopholes. He prefers to keep his relationships close, creating loyal subjects that glimpse the kind heart of the iron exterior.

Mangondulon is prone to artistic pleasures, practicing an art of aesthetics, arranging buildings, columns, and even entire city blocks to appease his sense of pensive peace. On occasion, he’ll donate funds to reconstruct an entire building, or home, simply to heighten its beauty, making him a particularly popular sight out amongst the streets of Palask.

Relationships

Mangondulon keeps a close circle of contacts, careful to never extend his confidence beyond those few he can trust.

Enshunu. Mangondulon’s closest friend, advisor, and lover, the godking prefers his company above all others.

Nergal. No one quite understands it, but Mangondulon, for some reason, prefers the company of the city’s most disliked bhrunai over most.

Arsurs. Many believe the godking appoints his Arsurs out of preference more than their achievements, and they’re not entirely wrong.

A King’s Legend

It is said that Mongdonulon once wrestled a Tyrannosaurus into submission, hurled a boulder into the face of a Kaijan to ward it away, and is immune to the effects of Psionics. These are all false, of course, but many hold it to be true, and the godking does not actively discredit these rumors.
