Chee

The forest nation of Chee used to be much larger and more prosperous. Originally, Chee was part of Chehozran, but after a short civil war they split along the mountain range that separates the two regions. Chee never recovered economically from the civil war, struggling to make an international name for itself. Before it was able to achieve any notable successes, Roshallan annexed Chee.

Academic.

Chee has no major academies. All of its small schools that teach basic educational subjects are managed by Roshallan.

Aristocratic and Political.

Chee is governed by lesser kings assigned to the region from Roshallan. The Chee folk have no say in their own governmental practices.

Mercantile and Trade.

Chee’s forests produce a bounty of foodstuffs and timber, along with colorful pigments. The coast teems with fish, and Deeprock’s shipyards manufacture powerful shallow and deep water ships.

Military.

Chee has no military; its armed forces were completely defeated and disbanded by Roshallan.

Religious.

In the privacy of their own homes, most Chee folk keep alive the traditions of their ancestors. Like the Chehozran, the Chee believe that one day the kaijan of old will return: some will be benevolent, and many will be tyrannical. They pray that the kaijan who return to the nation of Chee will strive to protect, rather than to destroy.

Social.

While many Chee folk wish that they could run their own country instead of being controlled by Roshallan, they also recognize that Roshallan’s powerful military offers them great security. Most folk of Chee simply go about their lives, helping out their friends when they can and avoiding strangers.

Underworld.

Some nationalistic Chee folk have taken it upon themselves to overthrow Roshallan. While the more rational among these rebels simply try to disrupt Roshallan’s presence in Chee’s territory, some ambitious rebels intend to overthrow the entire Roshallani empire.

Deeprock

Chee’s only major city, Deeprock, is micromanaged by Roshallan. It has a fortified palace where a Roshallani regional king oversees the nation of Chee. A strong military presence keeps the peace, and Deeprock’s enormous shipyards produce large, powerful naval vessels at a rapid rate, which Roshallan uses to conquer other nations that border the Inner Sea.

Quest Ideas

• Roshallan hires the heroes to head into Chee and put down a developing rebellion. The rebels might also approach the heroes and ask them to help chase Roshallan out of the nation. Caught between the two parties’ desires, the heroes must weigh their morals and their desire for wealthy compensation.
• Roshallan will have unparalleled naval superiority if they can finish building their flagship, the Thunderhead. Chee’s rebels want the heroes to help them sabotage the vessel so that it will sink once many hundreds of Roshallani soldiers are on deck and out in the deep sea.
