Nent

A humid coastal state, Nent is known for its rocky shores, rolling hills, and diverse agricultural yields. It governed itself using a direct democracy for generations on end, but has been conquered by Roshallan. It is now a subsidiary state of the great empire.

Academic.

Nent has a single university in Amphos, but all of its scholars have been exiled and replaced with Roshallani ones.

Aristocratic and Political.

Nentese do not believe in aristocracy. Instead, they prefer to practice classical direct democracy: every citizen gets to vote on every single issue, and if a majority is not reached then status quo is maintained. As a relatively small nation, Nentese find it feasible to travel to a central gathering place once every year or two to vote on a wide variety of issues. Unfortunately for the Nentese, their democracy is no longer practiced now that they are a vassal state of Roshallan.

Mercantile and Trade.

Nent’s hot and humid environment lends itself to growing a wide variety of agricultural goods. Many Nentese also raise sheep, cattle, pigs, and other livestock.

Militant.

Nent no longer has any military to speak of, instead relying on Roshallan to protect them.

Religious.

Many Nentese worship the Exiles in secret. This trend began after Roshallan annexed them, and those who keep this practice do so as they believe that the Exiles will be the most sympathetic to their current predicament.

Social and Underworld.

Most Nentese are suspicious, both of foreigners and of one another. After Roshallan annexed their nation, Roshallan appointed some Nentese citizens to act as governors overseeing Nent’s various provinces. Most Nentese view this as a complete degradation of their democracy and resent their leaders for going along with Roshallan’s edicts. Many Nentese have taken it upon themselves to rebel against Roshallan and against those among the Nentese who were so morally bankrupt as to sell themselves into Roshallan’s pocket. This creates a vicious cycle, as the Roshallani insist on law-abiding Nentese suppressing their own people’s rebellion.

Amphos

Nent does not have a capital city so much as a central gathering place where the Nentese gather to vote on any issue. Amphos is an enormous amphitheater surrounded by inns and taverns that house Nentese citizens between votes.

Quest Ideas

• Nentese rebels recruit the heroes to help them sabotage Roshallan.
• The coastal hills are plagued by some kind of monster or pack of monsters. Can the heroes clear out this danger and return life to normal?
