Early records about manticores talk of a beast so vicious that if it makes you its prey, there will be nothing left of you to bury. Time and time again throughout history, these tales were proven to be true. Manticores are creatures with a vaguely humanoid head, the body of a lion and a spiked tail full of quills. They are also known to carry diseases with them, mainly the Boil Plague.

Features
Pack Hunter. If the Manticore Vampire is within 5 ft of one of its allies, it gets +1 TA on its attacks.

Regenerating Quills. The Manticore Vampire has 20 quills and can regrow any quills it loses after it has Taken a Rest.

Vampirism. The Manticore Vampire follows the Ancerran, Croftian, or Draculean vampire template.

Small Companion. Manticore Vampires often hunt together with a pack of Needlebeaks.

Actions
On each of the Manticore Vampire’s turns, it may take one of the following sets of actions.
  • Take three Tier 1 actions.
  • Take two Tier 1 actions and one Tier 2 action.
  • Take two Tier 2 actions.
Tier 1 Actions
Move. The Manticore Vampire moves up to its speed.

Claw. Reach 5 ft Natural Weapon. +5 vs AR. Hit: 9 (1d8+5) sharp.

Bite. Reach 5 ft Natural Weapon. +5 vs AR. Hit: 9 (1d8+5) sharp and 5 (2d4) necrotic. The Manticore Vampire regains HP equal to the necrotic damage.

Quill Dart. Reach 60 ft Natural Weapon. +3 vs AR. Hit: 7 (1d8+3) toxic, and the target is Sickened until the end of their next turn. Then make a secondary attack: +3 vs FORT. Hit: Target is infected with the Boil Plague.

Tier 2 Actions
Blood Bite (Recharge 5). Reach 5 ft Natural Weapon. +5 vs AR. Hit: 9 (1d8+5) sharp. Then make a secondary attack: +5 vs FORT. Hit: Target gains Bleeding (1d4).

Blood Syringe. Reach 5 ft Natural Weapon. The Manticore Vampire attempts to stab a target within range with its quills and suck their blood. +5 vs AR. Hit: 12 (2d6+5) sharp. Then make a secondary attack: +5 vs FORT. Hit: Target is Shaken until the end of their next turn.

Reactions
Exploit (1/Round). The Manticore Vampire can Exploit.

Bristle (1/Round). When a creature moves into reach of the Manticore Vampire’s claw, it may make a Claw attack.
