	Lavaels are celestial beings that seek to keep peace and [[order]] throughout the multiverse. They can be summoned by a long and complicated ritual, and are commonly trusted as neutral arbiters that will enforce binding contracts. Lavaels loathe dubious or deceitful pacts, and so many wealthy and upstanding merchants, [[clergy]], aristocrats, and the like seek their services to enforce their dealings, while the more unscrupulous elite try to avoid Lavaels. 			A Lavael has the form of an anthropomorphic [[lion]], but in place of its face, it simply [[bears]] a joyful, white porcelain [[mask]]. It also has large wings that appear to be made from clouds. Most Lavaels wear capes that [[glimmer]] with one star for every contract that they are enforcing or have successfully enforced, so these capes are seen as signs of status among Lavaels.
